News story 1

Good morning. It's 11 o'clock and your with Chris Williams.

Flood
News Presenter:
The worst weather conditions for more than 20 years continue to cause chaos across the south east and England. After days of torrential rain and storms, flooding and power cuts have disrupted up to a 1,000 families as of this morning. Several rivers in London and the Home Counties have overflowed leaving many town centres flooded. Some homes have experienced water levels of up to 3 feet . Patrica Smith' from 'Gilford', has told 'Urban City Fm' had to evacuate her family, after seeing water levels rise while preparing dinner for the family.

(SoundBite - On the phone - Not good quality)

Sound Bite:
Patrica Smith:
As I saw the water coming in, I started to panic, running around, trying to scoop up water as much as I could. Once the water reached the kitchen, I tried calling companies that could come and pump the water out. Their phone lines we're engaged, so after an hour of the water coming in, we packed over night bags and stayed in a hotel nearby. I'm dreading going home, I can't imagine how bad the damage will be.

News Presenter:
Meanwhile the London Met Office is warning that there's still heavy flooding yet to come, so stay with 'Urban Fm' for all the latest weather updates for London.

News story 2

Londoner who convicted at 16 re-sentenced under new Law.

News Presenter:
A former juvenile delinquent who was sentenced to life in prison at the age of 16 without parole, has seen his sentence reduced because of a new law preventing minors from being given life sentences. 'Trevor Kieff' left Wandsworth Prison earlier this week after having served a 17 - year sentence for the murder of teenager 'Taylor Phillips' in Battersea in 1996. Urban City's correspondent Michelle Miller was at Westminster county court this morning, getting a measure of public opinion about the changes brought in by Justice secretary Chris Grayling

Outside Broadcaster:  - Michelle Miller:
According to justice minister Chris Grayling, inmates convicted of a crime as a child should be given a second chance. Trevor Kieff' spent 17 years in prison after being convicted for murder at the age of 16. The prisoner's family made an appearance at today's hearing, showing their support for the 33 year old. 'I spoke to residents of Westminster outside the court to get their reaction to the new change to the law, surprisingly many were against the change.

Vox-Pop 1:
If you decide to take the life of another human being, you must suffer the consequence of your own actions. We should think about the victim's family, they lost someone close to them, someone whom cannot be replaced.

Vox-Pop 2:
I'm a mother of 4, if some one ever harmed one of my children, I'd want them to stay behind bars for the rest of their life.

Vox-Pop 3:
I don't think it's that simple you know, that they can just lock you up and throw away the key. Even people who murder other people should get the kind of chance to maybe turn their life around in 20 year time. I mean... this guy was basically a kid, but he was triled as an adult. I believe everyone deserves a second chance.

Outside Broadcaster:  Michelle Miller:
The trial continues at Westminster County Court this week. Michelle Miller for Urban City Fm
